Frequently Asked Questions

The Four C's about buying a Diamond

Care of Aluminum Serveware

Wash your aluminum serveware by hand with mild dishwashing soap and dry immediately. Do not wash in dishwasher. The high heat of the dishwasher or oven will permanently dull the brilliant polished luster of the aluminum.

To prevent stains remove all food and liquid especially fatty acids, vinegar or salad dressings. It is recommended that just prior to serving you wipe or spray with vegetable oil. The oil will act as a barrier against foods that may dull or discolor the finish. Unlike silver, aluminum does not require regular polishing.

Caring for Pewter

After using, wash your pewter by hand (never in the dishwasher) in warm soapy water and dry it with a soft towel. Should your pewter ever need polishing there are several good products available. When storing pewter, always wrap in the original wrapping foam to avoid scratching. Never wrap pewter in tissue paper, as fine scratching will occur.

Caring for Fine Glassware

Hand wash your fine glassware one piece at a time, in moderately hot water with a mild lemon detergent. Rinse in clean water. Air-dry or dry with a soft, link-free cloth.

To remove residue from carafes and decanters, add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of uncooked rice - swirl and wash again. Do not use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners. Store stemware upright to prevent chipping.

Dishwasher heat, friction and detergent can dull or scratch surfaces. If you use a dishwasher, use the "Fine Crystal and China" setting and half the recommended amount of a mild dishwasher soap.

Caring for Crystal

Fine Crystal should be hand washed separately in warm soapy water, rinsed throughly and dried with a lint free cloth. When washing and drying stemware, do not twist the bowl in the opposite direction to the stem as this can cause damage. We do not recommend using a dishwasher to clean your crystal as it can dull and damage the surface.

Avoid pouring iced liquids or very hot water into crystal as extreme temperatures can crack or break your crystal. Beverages should not be stored in crystal for long periods of time. Empty, wash and rinse regularly.

The finely made rims are the most fragile part of your crystal glass. Do not turn upside down while drying or storing.
